We loved the Black Baron so much its been ridden in every type of wave, so version 2.1 is all about taking the strengths of our first ever twin fin and giving it a wider range of conditions. Like a new fighter jet with a comfortable cruising speed youre used to maxing out at, the Black Baron 2.1 brings the best parts of twin fin flow to even higher quality waves and faster surfing. Like the original its equal parts old school speed and new school flair – foam in all the right places to float over soft sections and fly down the line, yet still allow you to lay it on rail or bust the fins even when youre going Mach 10.

Where the changes begin are in the outline its a stretched out Black Baron, ridden 2 inches longer. Weve also increased the rocker a touch, and added modern concaves to handle more speed and versatility. Its a subtle single to double, featuring a reverse concave one of Jasons favourite designs.

This means its a deeper concave in the middle, with slightly shallower concave in the nose and tail to help with water flow for maximum drive. Black Baron 2.1 is the new all-rounder of twin fins. Weve just added the rear stabiliser and to quote JS, this twin is an EasyRidin, super gliding twin fin to use in everything from 2ft to 5ft. Featuring a Schooner type foil and rail, so ride it 1/8 thicker and remember approx. 2 inches longer than your Black Baron. Whatever way you go, its still all about maximum fun.

WAVE TYPE

The Black Baron 2.1 has been created to handle when the waves are pushing up to 6ft. The stabiliser combined with a concave change and performance outline has geared the black baron towards more high performing waves. When surfing in smaller conditions it can be surfed as a twin only for a looser feel.

WHAT IS HYFI 2.0?

Our unparalleled epoxy technology, HYFI, is a unique multi-layer construction that feels like nothing else out there. Think of it as a futuristic exoskeleton for a surfboard that allows it to be lighter and stronger than ever before, while still maintaining the ideal spring-loaded flex for maximum performance. Now, in the last 5 years since it was first released, weve taken everything learned to improve each aspect the performance, flex, speed, materials used and manufacturing processes.

SCALED ENGINEERING

We found the next level of this technology by developing precision engineered stringers, or pins, which are scaled specifically for each board. The size of the pin changes depending on the dimensions of the HYFI, and therefore the weight of its intended rider. The shape of each boards pin perfectly reflects our goal of making the stiffest part of the board at the centre, tapering out to each end. This results in an even better flex pattern that helps you load and explode into turns.

Weve also changed the balance of strength whereas the top and bottom were the same in our original HYFI, HYFI 2.0 construction features a stronger deck. Its been tested by surfers of all sizes, in every type of wave, resulting in a technology thats been carefully tuned and adjusted for each set of dimensions we build. That means your next best board ever is made in HYFI 2.
